Time for festivities, celebrations and parties, of course! Here’s how to host one in style and have fun too.

With the party season on everyone wants to organize a happening do. Here are a few tips that should add an element of fun to your bash.

• If you like dogs and your friend has a friendly one, ask him/her to bring it along. Dogs have a way of not only adding some fantastic action to any gathering, but you will surely spark some canine conversation. But, check if any of the other guests is allergic to or terrified of dogs. If yes, then avoid. Of course, the dog must be well trained- you don’t want that carpet ruined.

• Take out your playing cards. Any dull moment can be livened up with interesting new games. War is a good game to include a lot of players and there’s always the old standby of Go fish.

• Pull out old newspaper clippings. Current events, old write-ups about funny incidents are good things to spark discussions. Be wary of bringing up any political issues at the party.

• Offer to sketch things. With drawing paper and pens in hand, do a quick sketch of the plant in the corner, the drunk mans half-empty vodka bottle or your dog mingling with the guests. If you’re really talented, create some caricatures of the party goers. Be prepared to give the sketchers away if the people fall in love with them; it’ll make you look generous.

• Even if you’re not good at sketching, still do it. You can pass it around and ask others to illustrate. If they can’t draw either, you’ve got your agenda set. The rest of the party can be spent trying to figure out what the guests drawings are supposed to be.

• A camera is also a good way to pass time at a party. Get guests to make the silliest of faces possible and then later, don’t forget to mail them the pictures. Try to make it a digital camera so you don’t get stuck spending tons of cash developing 100 pictures of people make goofy grins.
